We were at Göksu for a field research with our international collaborators Ariane and Anna for the C-Blues project. We collected soil core samples and measured greenhouse gas emissions from wetland vegetation.
On Nov 27, Meltem Kuyumcu successfully defended her master’s thesis on ‘Salinization and warming effects on zooplankton community in Mediterranean shallow lakes: a mesocosm experiment’. Hearty congratulations and all the best for her PhD endeavors in Canada.
Hasan defended his thesis on Composition and Stratigraphy of Sedimentary Pigments in Alpine Lakes of Taurus Mountains, Türkiye on August 29. Big Congratulations to him for earning his masters degree. 
Hearty Congratulations to Yeşim for successfully defending her thesis on Spatiotemporal dynamics of carbonate chemistry in river and groundwater inputs to the Northeastern Mediterranean Coast. 
We’re excited to share that Hasan recently presented both his MSc thesis work and our team’s ongoing alpine lake research in the ESS 505: Global Biogeochemistry course. Congratulations to Hasan for a strong presentation and for representing our work so well!
We went on a field trip to Göksu to collect core samples for the c-Blues project which focuses on understanding the carbon sequestration in blue ecosystems. Special thanks to our collaborator Kale and his student Irene from Utrecht University for joining us.

Korhan attended the online science festival organized by The Scientific And Technological Research Council Of Turkey (TÜBİTAK). He gave a talk on our research on Polar ecosystems and climate change.
